At the time of the Trojan War ancient Greeks heard voices of beings of the ancient Greek pantheon. The Iliad pulls together best views of individuals who seriously considered the Trojan War from a couple of centuries subsequent to the Trojan War where such individuals also heard voices of beings of the ancient Greek pantheon. A deal that is strange about the Iliad is that the poem is a history of the Trojan War that is basically veracious.
Whether the Trojans subsequent to 10 years of war would have accepted a gift of a huge wooden horse and wheeled the wooden horse in to Troy is not clear. Also had Helen decided freely to go to Troy as is presented in the Iliad whether the ancient Greeks would have decided to go to war is not clear.
Retellings of classics are impossible. Retellings that are worth viewing and/or reading of the Iliad are impossible.
