Taking megadosages of vitamin C could make opioid addictions very difficult to beat

Updated: Mar 2

Vitamin C is sometimes recommended as an adjunct treatment for opioid addictions. Megadosages of vitamin C can decrease synthesis of uridine monophosphate (UMP) which can result in decreases of uridine triphosphate (UDP) which can result in decreases in synthesis of RNA and DNA.

Where RNA synthesis and DNA synthesis is decreased due to megadosages of vitamin C proteins can not be translated where proteins levels do not reset subsequent opioids being stopped. Difficulties can persist even subesquent to vitamin C being stopped. Supplementing 1000 mg of vitamin C a day or more is taking a megadosage of vitamin C.

Individuals who have opioid addictions who have taken megadoges of vitamin C would have to treat difficulties resulting from taking megadosages vitamin C to treat opioid addictions. See this post.
